Triathlon activities in Yorkshire and Humberside predominately rely upon
voluntary personnel. As a dynamic new Olympic sport that is the fastest growing
in the world, Triathlon has many unique volunteering opportunities and
experiences to offer. From organising an event, being a Treasurer within a club
to marshaling at an event, the rewarding and worthwhile activities that are
available to potential volunteers are numerous. Whether you have 2/3 hours to
spare to help out at an event or one hour a week to coach a group there is a
possible volunteering opportunity that you may want to do. The giving of time
for the benefit of others is always appreciated by the Yorkshire and Humberside
Regional Committee and support will be given to volunteers when ever possible.

Interesting volunteer facts:
* 22 million adults are involved in formal volunteering each year
* 90 million hours of formal voluntary work take place each week
* This work is estimated to be worth about £40billion a year
* Every pound an organisation spends supporting volunteers generates a
notional payback of up to £14
And 26% of these volunteers – over 5 million people – give one billion hours to
sport every year. These coaches, officials, mini-bus drivers, match secretaries,
umpires, treasurers, stewards and countless other
helpers sustain over 100,000 affiliated clubs with over 8 million members.
